Another quick recipe for you below, using ingredients that you may be able to find at the supermarket or local health food store. Cocoa butter is quite often found in the baking aisle.
Cocoa butter is the fat that is found in real chocolate and contains fatty acids which help to retain moisture and build elasticity, and has properties which can help ease dermatitis or rashes. It also has a lovely subtle chocolatey aroma!
Store-cupboard Body Butter (makes 130g)
50g cocoa (or cacao) butter
80g oil (olive, sweet almond, rapeseed, avocado or safflower)
Optional: essential oil, or powdered vanilla we use ylang ylang at about 0.3%
In a bain-marie (a bowl over a pan of hot water) gently melt the cocoa butter and oil. Leave to cool for 5 minutes. Cover and place in the freezer for about 15-20 minutes until it's starting to harden.
Whip the mixture with a whisk or food processor for up to 5 minutes until it's light and fluffy.
Spoon into a clean jar or container. Done! Use within 3-6 months and slather on as necessary for super healthy skin.
You only need to use a tiny amount, it will melt on contact and totally absorb into your skin. It's best to use just after showering to lock in moisture.
